Distance stopped being the constraint.
Operations work doesn’t need a van. Interviews, mapping, design reviews and operating reviews run on video, and the documents, numbers and systems are shared online. Some work wants people in the room: a floor walk during discovery, the first day of a change, a workshop with the team. We plan those as visits rather than pretending they can be done down a wire.
On retainers, a quarterly visit is the default where it helps; a project, a launch or a bad week can mean more.
Travel
At cost, agreed before booking.
Travel costs are passed through at cost, with no markup, and agreed in writing before anything is booked. Travel time isn’t billed on retainers or fixed-price projects, and is half rate on hourly work.
